| Summary: | Olive York, an English migrant to Australia was born in London. Her interview covers the period from her birth to her emigration to Melbourne, Australia in May/June 1954. The first part of the interview (Tape 1-12) provides detail on working class life in the home, in the cottage community and at work in the London suburb of West Hampstead during the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. Part two of the interview covers the period 1954 to the 1970s, the period of Olive's disembarkation at Melbourne through to settlement in Brunswick, working and home life, and position as Lady Mayoress of Brunswick (1972 & 1976/1977)
