Folkloric recording. George Petersen talks about N.S.W. Labor politics and sings political ditties and other songs. Petersen speaks of his parents and school days, his view that immigrants need to be accepted as Australians, how he was a voracious reader in his school days, how left school in 1936 at age 15 to get his first job, how he joined an Army commando unit in 1942 and later trained for the Sandakan Rescue, how he joined the Communist Party in 1945. 2. Rhyme: Catch a fish. 3. Discusses his early days in the Communist Party and its philosophy, recalls the cane strikes of the 1930s, how the 1930s and 1940s were the halycon days of the Communist Party, other soldiers in the Communist Party, when the War ended he went to work in Brisbane, how the Coal Strike effected the Communist Party, his view of post-war Communism and how the Communist Party was rendered useless after 1949, how he got expelled from the RSL, how he moved to Wollongong in 1957 and left the Communist Party only to join the Australian Labor Party in 1958, recalls the early days of the Party, how he formed the Unanderra Branch of the ALP.
