Annotated typescript drafts of four poems, c.1960 -"Mr and Mrs Beam", "The Doom Caller", "The Optimist" (all signed) and "Mr Dove" (unsigned) - together with an article about Riddell, written by Janet Hawley and published in the "Good Weekend", 20 August 1994, pp. 16-17. All items are bound in one volume, and formerly formed part of the library of collector Geoffrey Cains.

Journalist and poet. Born in Napier, New Zealand in 1907, Riddell came to Australia as a teenager and worked from the 1930s on a number of papers including "Smith's Weekly", "Daily Guardian" and for the Fairfax and Packer groups. During World War II she was a war correspondent in London, returning later to Australia as a feature writer and book reviewer for the "Daily Mirror", "The Australian" and "The bulletin". Her poetry has won numerous awards.
