- Biography/History:

Lawyer, industrial officer, academic and author. John Carroll was educated at the University of Melbourne where he graduated as a Bachelor of Laws, and worked as an industrial officer, wages board member in Victoria and principal officer of the Commonwealth Arbitration Inspectorate. He lectured at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the subjects of industrial law and industrial relations and delivered occasional lectures on industrial obligations in the faculties of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Melbourne. As an author, Carroll published Termination of employment (1983 and 1984), and, Australian industrial relations handbook (1979, 1983 and 1988). Carroll was also the consultant for the CCH loose-leaf service, Australian employment law guide.
