Terszak was placed in Sister Kate's Children's Home, Perth at the age 2 and remained there until the age of 20, except for a brief period in the Home of the Good Shepherds. She speaks about finding out that her birth mother is Aboriginal and meeting her mother and brother. Terszak also describes the living conditions at Sister Kate's and discusses the psychological effects of removing children from their family and of institutionalisation.
