Lipski, a journalist and television producer, talks about his family background; growing up in Carlton, Vic.; education and matriculation in 1954 from University High School; spending a year in Israel in 1956 during Arab-Israeli war and completing his Arts degree at University of Melbourne and first job in television with GTV Channel 9 in Melbourne. He then talks about television journalism; becoming Channel 9's first political correspondent; working with Alan Reid and his views on Graham Freudenberg. Lipski then discusses ethics and censorship in journalism; writing for "The Bulletin" and his involvement with "This Day Tonight" as foundation producer. Lipski then discusses "Four Corners" and his work as executive producer; involvement with "Quadrant" as executive editor and recalls years 1969-73 as most rewarding of journalistic career. He then describes his work as Washington correspondent and reasons for returning to Australia. Lipski then talks about the mini-series "The Petrov affair"; interest in Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
Lipski then then talks about his award, National News Commentator of the Year, in 1982; acceptance of position of Editor-in-Chief and Executive Publisher of "Australian Jewish news" and creation of "Jerusalem report". He then discusses his work as Chief Executive of the Pratt Foundation; involvement with Swinburne College, Australian Refugee Foundation and State Library of Victoria and considers the future of the Australian Jewish community.
