MS 7522 comprises typescripts with annotations of Stories from suburban road, The day it all ended (first draft), and A knockabout with a slouch hat. There is a photocopy of a typescript novel. The collection also includes a letter from Ian Mudie to Tom Hungerford dated 11 July, 1952 (1 box).
- Biography/History:

Writer. Thomas Arthur Guy (Tom) Hungerford was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1915. He served in the commandos in World War II in New Guinea, New Britain and Bougainville. After the war he went with the occupation forces to Japan. In 1954, Hungerford joined the Australian News and Information Bureau. He spent a period as press officer in the New York Office of the Australian Consul-General. Hungerford became an award-winning author of novels, short stories, children's fiction and radio plays. His autobiographical works include Stories from suburban road: an autobiographical collection, 1920-1939 (1983) and Red Rover all over: an autobiographical collection, 1952-1986 (1986). In 1988, Hungerford was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to literature. In Western Australia the T.A.G Hungerford Award was named in his honour. Hungerford died in Perth in June 2011.
