The Acc01/87 instalment comprises papers of Bob Ellis and writer Anne Brooksbank, including A-Z files of correspondence, papers relating to the Abbott and Costello suit, letters of Keith and Elsie Ellis (parents), letters between Bob and Anne and between Bob and his girlfriends, and letters and poems of Les Murray (9 cartons).
- Biography/History:

Author, journalist, broadcaster, screenwriter, film director, critic and political adviser. As a writer, Robert James Keith Ellis has contributed to HQ, Encore magazine, The Age, Sydney morning herald, The Canberra times, and The Courier-mail. In 2002 he was voted Columnist of the Year by the Magazine Publishers Association. Ellis's political books include, The things we did last summer: an election journal (1983), Two weeks in another country: a journal of the 1983 British election (1983), Goodbye Jerusalem: night thoughts of a Labor outsider (2nd ed., 1997), and, First abolish the customer: 202 arguments against economic rationalism (1998). His books of collected essays are Letters to the future (1987), and, So it goes: essays, broadcasts, speeches 1987-1999 (2000). Ellis is also the author of a satirical work The Hewson tapes: a secret history, perhaps, of our time (1993). In 2005 he published A local man: a play about Ben Chifley, with Robin McLachlan. For the screen he co-wrote the feature film Newsfront and the children's film Fatty Finn and he has also directed three feature films. He was the co-author, with Michael Boddy, of the musical play The legend of King O'Malley. Ellis's work for film and stage has won numerous nominations and awards for writing and direction, including three Premier's Literary Awards. As a political figure, Ellis has worked for Bob Carr's office as speechwriter and strategist and he also wrote speeches for Kim Beazley.
