Image of Lajos Steiner playing chess. Steiner was an International Master of chess; one of the strongest Hungarian players of the 1920s and 1930s; Hungarian champion in 1936; played for Hungary in three Chess Olympiads, 1931, 1933 and 1935?; emigrated to Australia and dominated chess in Australia for many years.

Charles Leonard Walker Leslie, 9 June 1911 - 25 June 2000, known as Len Leslie, was born in Queanbeyan, N.S.W. His career, interests and achievements include: teacher 1930-1953; scientific photographer, Land Research, CSIRO 1954-1973; AFIAP (Artiste Federation Internationale De L'Art Photographique), 1961; Kodak APR Recognition Medal; Life Member of Canberra Photographic Society; composer of music; writer; poet; historian. A retrospective of photographs and a memorial concert were held 11 November 2000 at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith, N.S.W. Photographs in the National Library collection are examples of Leslie's pictorialist style from the 1940s to the 1970s.
