The papers include newspapers cuttings pertaining to the theatre and to Miss Hansen (her professional name); theatre programmes, some correspondence; tickets; address cards removed from flowers sent to Miss Hansen at the theatre; photographs of Miss Hansen in her various stage roles, one of her manuscript musical scores. The papers also include a biographical note, manuscript and published music, programmes, newspaper cuttings, correspondence and photographs and a conductor's baton of her father, Edward Henry Hanstein (1865-1925) conductor of the Victorian Opera Company. Finally there is a biographical note, letters, newspaper cuttings and photographs of her husband, Arthur James Pearson (1877-1970).

With the sudden death of her father, Professor Edward Henry Hanstein, who had been training her for opera, Romola Hansen joined J. C. Williamson in 1927. After an absence from the stage of two years following a riding accident she was star of their stage productions from 1930 until her marriage to Arthur James Pearson in 1937, during which period she appeared in 25 shows.
