Helen Newton Turner, statistician and geneticist, describes her career and achievements in statisticis and genetics. She speaks of her family background; architecture studies at Sydney University; becoming interested in the new discipline of statistics while working at CSIR as a secretary; studying statistics at University College London and Rothamsted Experiment Station; work with the Division of Animal Health and Production on merino sheep breeding; improvements achieved in wool production and measurement; twinning experiments; the Booroola flock; memories of Clunies Ross; the dissemination of research results internationally; projects for ADAB and FAO; science and religion; her awards.
