Received in five instalments, including: 1. Draft & typescript manuscripts of Time of fire, A Taste of salt water, Shabbytown calender, Begin with walking, A Beach at Alberese & early uncollected poems. 2. Five books of juvenile poems, 1949-57. 3. Correspondence 1962-77, with Charles Blackman, R.A. Simpson, Craig Powell, Chris Wallace-Crabbe, Peter Skrzynecki, Douglas Stewart, James McAuley, Richard Tipping, John Tranter, Gwen Harwood & Rodney Hall, including drafts of Hall's The law of karma, Heaven in a way & Romulus and Remus. 4. Papers documenting Shapcott's directorship of the National Book Council, 1992-97. 5. Papers relating to Gwen Harwood tribute, Adelaide Festival, 1996.
- Biography/History:

Poet & former accountant. Shapcott has published more than 36 titles including collections of poems, essays, short stories, novels, books for young readers & a study of the artist Charles Blackman. He was Executive Director of the National Book Council between 1992 & 1997, & currently holds the chair of Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Adelaide.
