- Donor correspondence refers to the coconut carved by a sailor on Captain Cook's ship when Captain James King was in command. Following the death of Cook, King remained on the Resolution but on the death of Charles Clerke, Cook's successor, King was appointed to command HMS Discovery. The mount and inscription referencing the Endeavour dates from the time of the donation, 1969-72.
