After burning steadily through Namadgi National Park under slackening westerly winds, a sudden shift to gusty north-westerlies just before midnight on 17th January, drove the Stockyard fire down Apollo Road and up the timbered slopes of Mount Tennent, while firefighters at "Ballineen" stood by ready to protect buildings and structures"--Note from the photographer.
