- Summary:
-
"Smiths Road, Cuppacumbalong at 1500 hr, 30:01:2003. In the barren fields along Spring Station Creek, so recently swept by fire, very strong, hot and gusty winds returned to drive dust and ash storms towards the Naas and Murrumbidgee Rivers through withered woodlands and the blackened skeletal ranks of the Ingledine Pines where avalanches of dusty grey ash formed and cascaded down gullies onto the river flats. On this day the technical fire weather rating reached 117 and higher on the previously maximum scale of 100"--Note from the photographer.
