George Rignold was a British born actor and theatre manager and director who became famous as a Shakespearian actor, especially in the role of Henry V. He first came to Australia in 1876, and from 1884 until his death in 1912, made Australia his permanent home, based in Sydney. He was lessee and part-owner of Her Majesty's Theatre in Sydney 1887-1895.
