Albums compiled by Ingleton over a lifetime which document the history of several colonial vessels and survey ships of the R.A.N. There are six albums containing correspondence, historical notes, log entries, articles and illustrations. The latter include an original etching by Ingleton and photographs. There are also newspaper cuttings describing the services of H.M.S. Victoria, H.M.S. Lady Nelson, H.M.A.S. Moresby, H.M.S. Paluma and H.M.A.S. Geranium. The collection includes articles written by officers who served on two of the ships and a signed copy of Lorraine Paul's "First lady: the story of HMS Lady Nelson" (1982).

Lieutenant Commander R.A.N., maritime historian and marine artist. Ingleton served in the Royal Australian Navy between 1922 and 1936. During that time he was assigned to the hydrographic service and served on H.M.A.S. Moresby, surveying waters to the north of Australia. In civilian life Ingleton worked as a draftsman and artist. From December 1940 until his retirement in 1973, Ingleton was employed in the Hydrographic Office. He was the author, compiler and illustrator of a number of books. Ingleton was also a collector of manuscripts, books, maps and paintings on early Australia. These collections had a particular emphasis on the sea, maritime exploration and coastal development.
