Hermann, speaks of his work background, as a construction worker and member of the BLF Union and a Green Bans activists but now a sound engineer and video maker and community activist in Sydney; his conservative family background; working first as a clerk for the Sydney Water Board and then in white collar management; playing rugby for N.S.W. which eventuated in a trip to Britain where he became involved in the opposition to the Springbok tour; his opposition to the Vietnam War; on his return to Australia becoming politically active by squatting in the Green Bans campaign; Norm Gallagher (Builders' Labourers' Federation (BLF)); becoming a community activist in radio and video, trained as a sound engineer with film maker Tom Zubrycki; being actively opposed new Sydney flight path; instructing on video techniques; explains his company Quality Films and how he produced a film covering the Franklin River Campaign; the response of the Communist Party of Australia and ACTU to the film produced by Tom Zubrycki on the Australian Council of Trade Unions; his film "Tracks of Treasure" made with Brian Dunnett for the NSW Railway Historic Exhibition, other videos include "What about the workers' workers?" and the CFMEU video "Oakdale - 6.3 million reasons to belong to the union".
