Jason Hellwig, born in Darwin, Northern Territory (1971) discusses his family and family background; schooling; multiculturalism in Darwin; his desire to be a sports administrator; doing work experience at the Northern Territory Department of Sport; volunteer work; tertiary education; working as General Manager, Northern Territory Athletics (1993); being appointed General Manager, Athletics Australia (Melbourne, 1994); the National Track and Field Championships for Athletes with a Disability; growing awareness of high performance sport for athletes with a disability.
