Langer talks about her family background and growing up in Vienna, her interest in art history from the age of 17 and her desire to be a painter, university education, studying in Paris in 1928, marriage to Karl Langer in 1932 and leaving Austria in 1938 to come to Australia and arriving in Sydney in May 1939. She then talks about adjusting to the Australian climate and lifestyle, lecturing on art and working as an art critic with the "Courier Mail", her involvement with the Arts Council and the Art Critics Association and her views on Australian art and artists.
