- Caption title.
- A coloured postcard produced by Charles Barrett supporting World War I recruitment and printing on its verso his verse "The Shirker's Chorus": "I'd like to be a soldier, | Tho' I wouldn't go to war; | I'd like to be a sailor, | But I'd sooner stay ashore. | I'd like to wear the Victoria Cross, | Without the wounds or scars; | But I mean to stay at home, 'cos I'm | The favourite Son of Ma's". Designed to be sent as the equivalent of a 'white feather' to unenlisted men, with a space for the sender's signature below the verse. The photograph depicts a line of men in uniform (some with crutches) being congratulated as they shake hands with a line of older men.
