- National Library of Australia's Whelan 553 copy inscribed in ink on the first free endpaper "With the publishers compts" with caricature of Henry Lawson by Frank Mahony from the Sydney Morning Herald 11.2.39 pasted in; untrimmed; also inscribed "Philys S. Whelan. 'Camp Hill' Carew Street, Dee Why N.S.W.".
- National Library of Australia's FERG/1453 copies bear the Ferguson Collection, National Library Canberra bookplate and have gilt top edge; (A) copy untrimmed and inscribed in pencil, "Henry G. Turner, 1896" on the first free endpaper.
- National Library of Australia's SR 251 (SR2) copy is inscribed on front free end paper by the author, possibly to his wife Bertha Marie Louise Bredt, "To 'Girlie' from Harry," with a sketch and eight lines of an unfinished poem. Superscription by literary agent, Edward Garnett records that the sketch and poem are in Lawson's handwriting and that Lawson gave him this copy. Loosely inserted is a handwritten letter to Garnett from Lawson, Princess Mansions, [Henrietta Street, London], 24-3-1902. The bookplate of Edward Garnett's son David Garnett appears on the front pastedown. The bottom of pages 113-128 are torn out.
