Heitmeyer, a senior lecturer at Wollotuka Aboriginal Education Centre, University of Newcastle, speaks about being taken from her mother and raised on a on a sheep station with her foster family. Heitmeyer also talks about her efforts to explore her Aboriginal identity, her search for her family through Link Up, and her experience of counselling as a means of healing the pain caused by childhood separation.
