Sheen orchard was a 400 acre property one mile from Batlow, NSW, and the author has woven the history of the property and family of Sheen through this tribute to her husband Edgar. She tells of life through the early part of this century in a country area of NSW.
- Biography/History:

Artist and writer. Enid Herring went to Batlow in 1936, working there for 3 years before joining the Australian Army Medical Women's Service. She returned in 1942, married Edgar Herring, and lived there until his death in 1976. Her published works include two local histories "From gold to apples" and "They wanted to be nightingales".
