McMillan speaks about her Methodist upbringing and her decision to apply to the Methodist Inland Mission Board to work with Aboriginal people. McMillan was sent to Mogumber Mission, W.A. as a cottage mother for the period 1969-72. She describes living conditions at the Mission and the problems faced by children on leaving the Mission. McMillan then worked as hostel supervisor at the Ardross Hostel, Perth over the period 1972-82. She outlines the aims of Ardross and other hostels, and gives her views on Reconciliation.
