The policeman is Constable Thomas McIntyre, the only one of the four policeman to escape being shot by the Kellys at Stringybark Creek on Friday 25 October 1878. (Those killed were, in order, Constable Thomas Lonigan, Constable Michael Scanlan and Sergeant Michael Kennedy.
