- Lady Edwina Mountbatten (second from left) sits in a hospital lounge room in Japan and meets with a group of Red Cross officials. Lady Mountbatten is visiting hospitals and other medical facilities in Southeast Asia in her capacity as Superintendent in Chief St John Ambulance Brigade, and Chairman of St John and Red Cross Services Hospitals Welfare Department. The group are, left to right: a man dressed in a civilian suit; Lady Mountbatten; an officer from the American Red Cross (ARC); an officer from British Red Cross Headquarters.
