- McCarthy & Co's heavily painted brick building was a wholesale and retail depot for Dixon's Tobacco. An advertisement for the 'Dark Yankee Doodle' brand features a representation of Archibald M Willard's famous painting from the American Civil War. Posters advertise a building materials sale, together with an 'Intercolonial cricket match' at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Workmen stand in the foreground, one reading the advertising material. In the right foreground is a decorative gaslamp, and overhead are electric wires
