The collection was donated to the Library by the Australian Theatre for
Young People in 1986 and 1987.
The collection comprises correspondence, typescripts, programs, printed
material, photographs, reviews, videotapes and films, a scrapbook and
other papers regarding productions of the Australian Theatre for Young
People.
Historical Note
The Australian Theatre for Young People was formed in 1963 as a
non-profit organisation to create opportunities for young people to
participate in the performing arts. ATYP organises workshops, productions,
regional residences and national projects for young people. Many
productions tour nationally and internationally and involve leading
directors, designers and writers. The company is financed through private
and corporate donations and the New South Wales Government.
