WARATAH
LATE MR. JACOBSON.
The funeral of the late Mr Peter L.
Jacobson took place yesterday afternoon.
The deceased had been a resident of
Waratah for more than 40 years, and was
65 years of age at the time of his death,
which happened very suddenly on Mon-
day evening after he he had given an ad-
dress at the Christian Endeavour Society
meeting at the Methodist Church. Mr
Prigg and Mr. Eslick .represented the
Oddfellows as pall-bearers and Messrs.
Errington and Jacka represented the Me-
thodist Church in the :same capacity. The
Newcastle District Bowling Association
was represented by the.secretary, Mr. W.
Wallace, and the Waratah Bowling Club
by the patron, president, and., several
other members. Mr. Stewart, Methodist
Minister, officiated at the graveside. The
Masonic service was conducted by Wor.
Bro. T. A. Braye.
Wreaths were received from Waratah
Bowling Club, Northern District Bowling
Association, Lodge Waratah 170, Gittins
and Eastham, employees Gittins and
Eastham, Sulphide Corporation, wharf
labourers, Mr. and Mrs. W. Arnold, Mr.
J. L. Anderton, Mr. and Mrs. W Krempin,
Edith Smith (niece), Mrs. and Miss John-
son, the office staff, Messrs. Gibbs, Bright
and Co., Ltd., Mr. and Mrs. Winney, Mr.
and Mrs. A. F. Toll, Mr. and Mrs. P.
Dries, Mr. and Mrs. W. Wrlghtson, Mrs.
Vial, Mr. Wallace, T. A. Braye, jun.,
Newcastle Stevedoring and Lighterage
Co., Ltd., Mr. and Mrs. F. Wilson,
daughters and sons T. A. Braye, sen.,
Carrington wharf labourers employed at
Sulphide wharf, Carrington, Waratah
Methodist Church and Sunday School,
also a number of cards, letters, and tele-
grams.
Mr. Jacobson had been a resident of
New South Wales for 40 years. During
that time he had only had two employers,
Mr. James Russell (contractor) for 20
years, and the Sulphide Corporation for
the past 20 years as shipping clerk, in
which .capacity he served at the time of
his death. He had been a local preacher
in the Methodist Church for 40 years.
During portion of this time he also occu-
pied the position of trustee, and took an
active part In Sunday-school work. He
was also secretary of the Waratah Bowl-
Ing Club. Mr. Jacobson is mourned by
his widow, five daughters, and three sons,
one of whom is on active service.

Mrs. L. C. Nichols, of Lorna-street, Wa
ratah, hasorecelved word from her s0c,
Corporol C. H1 Nichols, to say that he is
well, and out of trenches, having a rest.
He had recolved comforts from Wara
tah, Adamstowns and ewcanstle.
