DISTRICT CASUALTIES.
KILLED IN ACTION.
PRIVATE WALTON.—Mrs. Mark Wal-
ton, of Ladysmith, West Wallsend, has
been notified that her husband, Private
Mark Walton, was killed in action on the
11th instant. He sailed November, 1916.
Previous to enlisting he was employed by
Mr. N. Vaizey, storekeeper, West Wall-
send.
DIED OF WOUNDS.
PRIVATE IRELAND.-Mrs. S. E. Miner,
of Malitland-street, Stockton, has receiv
ed word that her brother, Private George
Ireland, who left with "Newcastle's Own"
Battalion, has died of wounds in France.
Deceased enlisted at Bungwah., Myall
River.
MISSING.
PRIVATE SMITH.-Mr. H. B. Smith, of
20 Milltary-road, Newcastle, formerly of
Mlacquarle-street, Plattsburg, has been
informed that his son, Private Hunter:
Lawrence Smith, has been missing since
June 10.
WOUNDED.
PRIVATE JONES.-Mrs. M. Jones, of
Lske-road, W?nllsend, Ihas been advised
that her son, Private W. Jones, was re
ported admitted to the 5th Southern Gen
eral Iiospital, Portsmouth, England, suf
fering from amputation of the leg. Mrs.
Jones has also received a letter from her
son, who, at the time of writing, was an
inmate of No. 12 St. Louis, U.S.A., Gene
ral Hospital, Rouen, France, in which he
says that he was wounded on the ?rth
May, being shot through thd right leg,
end that it had been found necessary to
amputnate the limnb. He added that it'
would not be long before he left for Aus
ralia. .
SAPPER MOORE.-Mr. W. Moore,. of
Smith-street, Newcastle South. has re
ceived word that his son, Sapper WVil
liam Fraser MIoore (Billy), halsbeen re-,
ported wounded (gassed).
PRIVATE FALVEY.-Mr. and Mrs. J.
Falvey, of 32 Power-street, Isllngton, have
been advised that their son, Private J.
Falvey, has been wounded.
CORPORAL FORBES.-Mr. F. Forbes,
of Wolfe-street, Newcastle, received
word that his son, Corporal Fred. Forbes,
I.M1., of 13th Battalion, has been wound-i
ed. Corporal Forbes enlisted in Maitland'
during 1915, leaving for the front Jathe
samo year. . I
PRIVATE BRENNAN.-Mrs. E. Brennan,:
of Hind-street, West Wallsend, has been
notifled that her son, Private Enoch Bren
non;, is suffering from gunshot wounds
and amputation of the right leg.

I'Evoy, of Winsor-street, Merewether,.
havebeen further advised that their son,
Private George M'Evoy, has been admit
ted into Kitchener Military Hoepital,
Brighton, England, suffering from gun-~
shot wound in the left thigh (..verc).
