    The Cunard turbine liner Mauretania, using only three serews, last week completed the long winter course to New York in 4 days 20 hours 15 minutes, heating the previous week's record by her sister ship, the Lusitania, by 14 minutes. Both the Mauretaina and the Lusitania have now satisfied the Imperial Government's conditions. In Auqust, 1[?]03, and agreement was made with the British Government by which the Cunard Company were to build two new steamers, to be with an other Cunard ships at the disposal of the Admiralty Cor hire or purchase when ever they may be required, the Government lending that Company 22,600,000 to build the ships, and granting them a subsidy of £150,000 a year. ...
