    In the opinion of Mr. J. Macfarlane, chairman of,the Victorian Rowing Association and rowing coach, here is only ono stretch of river, which affords a perfectly fair course to the six public school crews rowing in one heat for the "Head of the River," and that is this section of the Lower Yarra depicted. In this Mr. Macfarlane cordially agrees with the views expressed by Sir Arthur Robinson (president of the Old Scotch Collegians) at the Old Melburnians' smoke night on Friday. The scene shows a straight up-stream course, extending from the point indicated by the arrow, which is near the two-mail mark (measured from below Queen's Bridge) at the entrance to the Coode Canal, to the finish, near the one-mile mark, shown by the dotted line.
