    These two views of Mr. H. H. Smith's Springdale Farm. Stirling Estate, serve to indicate what indomitable pluck and indefatigable energy applied to heavy forest land will do. One side of' the picture shows Mr. Smith's land in its virgin state the other portrays the complete metamorphosis he has accomplished by clearing and cultivation. On the cleared land is shown a magnilicent crop of potatoes just as they were bagged from the ground. Thirty-two bags for each bag of seed sown is equal to over 17 tons per acre, which is a splendid return.
