In this structure is a great door which resists all efforts to open it. Hidden in the wall beside the odor he finds a recess containing four small metal knobs. Touching one he is thrown violently to the ground. The knobs are charged with a tremendous voltage of electricity. Bruised, but otherwise unhurt, he succeeds in insulating the knobs and endeavours to find the reason for them. Alan stumbles on the combination and the door opens. Inside he finds a staircase circling down into pitchy ... [ILLUSTRATED]
