THE TAKING OF SIO, JAPANESE-HELD BASE, on the north coast of the Huon Peninsula, New Guinea, was simply a matter of Australian troops walking into a deserted village. There was nothing to capture but a site, and what was there had been levelled by our bombers, possibly months before.
