Biographical Note
Jessica Anderson was born in Queensland and educated in Brisbane. She has had seven novels and one volume of short stories published: An Ordinary lunacy, 1963; The Last man's head, 1970; The Commandant, 1975; Tirra Lirra by the river, 1978; The Impersonators, 1980; The Only daughter, 1980; Stories from the warm zone, and Sydney stories, 1987; and Taking shelter, 1989. Jessica Anderson, who has lived most of her life in Sydney, has been awarded the Miles Franklin award for Tirra Lirra by the river.
