Scope and Contents
The collection comprises correspondence, annual reports, minutes of Council and other meetings, rules of the Society (1930 and 1950), lists of members names, addresses and signatures, receipt books, bank statements and bank books, nomination forms and miscellaneous publications. Also minutes of Council 30.10.1972 and 14.3.1973, annual report 1972-73 and minutes of Annual General Meeting, 21.3.1973.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The collection was donated to the Library by Mr S.J. Mayne and Dr Nancy Burbidge in October 1974. Additions were received in 1978 and 1980.
Administrative History
The Royal Society of Canberra was established in 1930 and its object is the promotion of learning and research in science and in its broadcast aspects. The Society arranges lectures, symposia, papers and exhibits. Membership is open to those who are or have been actively engaged in the advancement of science.
