Scope and Contents

The collection comprises of Claux and Crick family correspondence, diaries, notebooks and photographs. The collection also documents Moira Claux's personal and professional life as a dancer with the Bodenwieser Ballet, actress and artist's model and include correspondence, scripts, drawings, scrapbooks, black and white photographs by a variety of photographers including Max Dupain and Laurence Le Guay, publications, objects, certificates and artworks by Moira's brother Eugene.

Diary recording daily life as well as artistic and entertainment interests., 1926 (File 2) - Box 2
Diary recording the journey from the family home in Waterloo to Brisbane., 1929-1930 (File 2) - Box 2

Life on board and the vicissitudes of raising a baby on a ship. Descriptions of the journey to Cairns, encountering her first Australian Christmas and living basically as boarders in large houses. Molly describes the social values she encounters, the kinds of people who please and displease her, as well as describing the many books she reads about humanism, politics, sex, child development. Authors include Bertrand Russell, Mrs Bertrand Russell's feminist treatise' Hypatia' and psychologist L Liber, a contemporary writer of ''The Child and the Home', and C E M Joad's 'Thrasymachus or the Future of Morals.' She writes about finding appropriate vegetarian food for her family and life in trying heat and rain of North Queensland, as well as learning to enjoy the fine weather. Throughout much attention is devoted to raising her first child, Eugene, and includes her delight in discovering Eugene can dance rhythmically.`
