Standing Orders - Australia (Commonwealth)

The House of Representatives adopted temporary Standing Orders in 1901, which were only replaced by permanent Standing Orders on 22 March 1950. The Senate relied substantially on the Standing Orders of the South Australian legislature until 1903, when it established its own Standing Orders. By 1937 the Senate had 450 Standing Orders, and the House of Representatives 410. They are regularly revised and reissued. Sessional orders are also made, applying only to the current session of Parliament.
