Budget Papers - South Australia

From as early as 1867 until 1988, the budget speech in South Australia was known as the Financial Statement of the [Premier and] Treasurer. It was accompanied by various Estimates documents. The first additional budget paper was The South Australian Economy, issued with the Financial Statement in 1982.

From 1988 to 1997, the budget papers were known as the Financial Papers, including the Budget Speech, Financial Statement, and Estimates; they were accompanied by Financial Information Papers, which covered such matters as Program Estimates and Capital Works.

From 1998, the Budget Paper series has been issued as 7-8 documents each year, including Budget at a Glance, Budget Speech, Budget Statement, Estimates Statement, Portfolio Statements, Capital Investment Statement, Regional Statement, etc.

Early budget speeches are available in the South Australian Hansard, and the speeches and all the other budget documents are still published in the Parliamentary Papers as well as individually. They are available online since 1996.
