Acts/Ordinances/Statutes - Tasmania

Tasmanian Statutes 1826-1959 (Reprint)

This is the latest multi-volume consolidation of Tasmanian acts, in seven volumes. It contains all Tasmanian laws as in force at the end of 1959, with all amendments incorporated in the text. The public general acts are arranged alphabetically by short title, and the private acts (in Volume 7) alphabetically by their long titles; there are no annotations. Appended to Volume 6 are the Imperial Acts and documents applicable to Tasmania.

An earlier multi-volume consolidation, the Public General Acts of Tasmania (Reprint) covered the period 1826-1936, in 7 volumes; the acts are arrnaged alphabetically by subject, and it is extensively annotated.

Tasmanian Statutes 1826-1959 (Reprint) is a Previous Series of Acts/Ordinances/Statutes - Tasmania

From its founding in 1803 to 1825, the laws of Tasmania (known as Van Diemen's Land until the beginning of 1856) were those of New South Wales, supplemented by Government and General Orders promulgated by the Lieutenant Governor in Tasmania.

From 1826 to 1856, the acts of the Legislative Council were published in the Hobart Town Gazette, and occasionally printed in volumes covering a short period.

The acts of the Tasmanian Parliament established in 1856 have been published as Acts of the Parliament of Tasmania 1856-1980, and Statute Law of Tasmania since 1981, though the spine title of both since 1960 has been Tasmanian Statutes.

Tasmanian acts and regulations have been online in consolidated form since 1997.
