Highlights of the collection: Extensive anthropology collection from the old Institute of Anatomy has been further enhanced by donations from Dr Fred McCarthy and Dr Robert Edwards. The Baldwin collection covers the development of steam engineering and includes many books not available elsewhere in Australia. The professional libraries of Elizabeth Pope and Keith Hindwood specialise in the seashore and ornithology. Our holdings also include materials from the collections of scientist Dr David Ride and academic Laurie Fitzharding. Other than these special collections, the library collects material in the areas of museum studies, conservation, Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Australian history and the environment.
