MS 2218 comprises diaries with daily entries kept by John Buckley Castieau. The diaries describe life in Beechworth (1856-1858 and 1860-1861) and in Melbourne where he worked for various penal establishments. Letter from V. Watson to Alan Downer of The Herald after Downer's article on Weachurch was published in Sept. 1953. Telegram dated 1880 June 28 from Benalla to Archpriest O'Meare thought to be about Ned Kelly (2 boxes).
MS Acc13.094 comprises a diary of John Buckley Castieau, kept between 1875 and 1876. Diary comprises daily entries by Castieau detailing life at Pentridge Prison in Coburg, Victoria, where he worked (1 packet).
