- Biography/History:

Hoddle was born in London 21st April 1794. He arrived in New South Wales in 1823 and worked with J. Oxley in Queensland and the Blue Mountains. In 1837 he was appointed senior surveyor at Port Phillip and designed Melbourne, Geelong, Williamstown and many other Victorian settlements. He died on 24th October 1881.
