The collection comprises subject files, correspondence, printed material and art works. The subject files, comprising research material, cuttings, photocopies and notes, were used by Cannon to write his books including Land boom and bust (1972) and The roaring days (1998).
- Biography/History:

Michael Cannon began his literary career as a journalist with the Melbourne Argus, Herald and the Age. He was London correspondent for the Sydney Morning Herald from 1949-1950. He has since been involved in many editing and publishing ventures, including being editor of the Sunday Observer and the Sunday review, and is the author or editor of numerous historical works.
