National Sorry Day was one of the recommendations of the Bringing them home report in 1997. The inaugural National Sorry Day was held on the 26 May 1998. It is an annual event on a theme and held around the same day. There is a National Sorry Day Committee Inc. at http://www.nsdc.org.au.
