The collection relates to ballet performances in the 1940s and consists of photographs, programs and newspaper clippings. Photographs of dancers include Edouard Borovansky, Laurel Martyn, Edna Busse and Martin Rubinstein. The programs are for the Borovansky Australian Ballet and the Melbourne Ballet Club. The newspaper clippings, from Mary Farmer's collection, include photographs of Pavlova, Laurel Martyn, Dorothy Stevenson, Genevive Moulin, and Anna Volkova, a rehersal scene from Les Sylphides (1942), and some ballet reviews. Additional photographs and newspaper clippings dated 1945-1947 were added to this collection in 2001.

Judy Bartram danced in Australia and overseas with eight different ballet companies including the Borovansky Ballet (1944-47). She has taught and choreographed widely, and is currently assembling and collating archival material relating to the Borovansky seasons between 1944 and 1950.
Mary Farmer was one of Borovansky's first Australian students when he opened his studio in Melbourne in 1939. She danced in his early pre-professional productions.
