- Part of a collection of photographs of monuments of John Batman and others relating to the early settlement of Melbourne.
- Condition: good.
- "Sacred to the memory of Edward Peers who died February 12th 1842, aged 9 years. Also to the memory of John Jones Peers of Richmond, his father whose remains lie here intered. He was born at Liverpool in England on the 28th March A.D. 1805 and died at Sydney N.S.Wales on the 27th August A.D. 1850." --on headstone.
- Inscriptions: " They dug this man's body up, it had been in an air tight coffin and had [?] decomposed a corpse two days old [was not?] in a better state of preservation; the family exhumed him because they thought the Council was going to send them all to 'Fawkner' whereas he would have gone to 'Flagstaff'[?]. I.S." --in ink on reverse.
