- Standard sheet coverage 28 x 19 miles, including 1-mile overlaps with adjoining sheets to east and south.
- First issue of sheets 71, 72, 78, 79, 81-92 headed: "Popular edition one-inch map". First issue of sheets 1-70, 73-77, 80 headed: "Popular edition". Later issues headed 'Popular edition one-inch map (with National Grid)'.
- Sheets 86 and 89 are common with England 'Popular edition' sheets 3 and 5.
- Issued in coloured edition, outline edition. Also issued were tourist maps of 'The Cairngorms' (1922, 1936), 'Oban' (1936), 'The Trossachs & Loch Lomond' (1929 and 1930), and 'Invergordon to Loch Ness' (1933).
- Also issued as military version overprinted with War Office Cassini Grid (British system).
- Also issued as GSGS 3908, headed as both 'Popular Edition' (1933?-), and 'War Revision 1940', both overprinted with War Office Cassini Grid (Modified British System) in purple, or headed as 'Second War Revision' (1940/1942) overprinted with War Office Cassini Grid (Modified British System) in black, numbered in blue.
